Description
A single puncheon, 750kg of fruit — the smallest wine we make.
NoseTropical fruit salad, pineapple
PalateMelon, bright and fresh
FinishA lovely touch of oak
Grown by Barry Marson on old, dry-grown vines about 2km from the estate, this Semillon is picked early to keep its natural brightness intact. 2025 was an exceptionally dry year — the block yielded just 750kg of fruit, enough for a single puncheon of wine. Fermented in stainless steel and matured exclusively in that one 500L puncheon, it's about as small-batch as Crabtree wines get.
The result opens with tropical fruit salad, pineapple and melon, bright and fresh, with a lovely touch of oak from its time in puncheon rounding out the finish.

About Semillon
Best known from Bordeaux and the Hunter Valley, Semillon is a thin-skinned variety that rewards early picking and gentle handling — exactly the treatment this dry-grown, low-yielding block gets. A light touch of oak, rather than heavy barrel ageing, lets its natural tropical fruit character lead.
