Crabtree Watervale Pomona Riesling

Crabtree Watervale Pomona Riesling

The 2008 POMONA Individual Block Riesling was born out of a need for a new winemaking team to better understand the terroir of the Crabtree Watervale Estate.

So much so, the Crabtree crew decided to keep the individual block wine separate and named it POMONA, after the original 19th century name of the Crabtree property.

The 2008 POMONA Individual Block Riesling has a core of elegant and deceptively light citrus flavour backed by classic mineral and steely acid characteristics. The finish builds and finishes crisp and dry.

Crabtree Watervale Riesling

Crabtree Watervale Riesling

The 2008 Crabtree Watervale Riesling exhibits classic Watervale florals on the nose with a punchy, layered citrus and lime palate, finishing long, crisp and dry. An excellent example of Watervale Riesling from a strong quality vintage. This wine can be enjoyed young and fresh but will benefit from medium term cellaring 6 - 8years.

Crabtree Zibibbo

Crabtree Zibibbo

Zibibbo is the Sicilian synonym for Muscat of Alexandria and the name for wines made from that grape that are light, fresh, fruity and with a hint of sweetness.

Crabtree Bay of Biscay Rose

Crabtree Bay of Biscay Rose

The wine is made from Grenache, and the name Bay Of Biscay is a local one for the type of soil in which the lovely old 1940's Grenache vines are grown, at the far western edge of our vineyard in Watervale.
Cherries, strawberries and raspberries on the nose. A delightful and vivid purply pink. Lifted fruit and a hint of sweetness on the palate where one is again reminded of strawberries. A wine for outdoors on warmer days served chilled. Great with antipasto platters and most other Mediterranean and Asian cuisines.

Crabtree Watervale Tempranillo

Crabtree Watervale Tempranillo

Smelling of dark cherries and earthy forest scents , the 2007 Tempranillo follows through smooth ripe plum flavours with a hint of savory spice and light oak. Our Tempranillo blocks were planted in 1999 as joint venture trial with the SA Viticultural Research Board and is the 'Mother Block' or source block for SA. Today there are over 120 growers around Australia and the variety is quickly becoming popular on fine wine restaurant lists. This classic Northern Spanish variety is also building quite a following with our regulars looking for an easy drinking pizza or pasta red on their Friday nights.

Crabtree Three Sixty Degrees Shiraz Cabernet

Crabtree Three Sixty Degrees Shiraz Cabernet

Looking very handsome in it's new burgundy label, our 2005 Three Sixty Degrees Shiraz Cabernet is a silky smooth combination of Picnic Hill Vineyard Shiraz (75%) and Windmill Vineyard Cabernet (25%). A pleasure to drink now or cellar for 5 - 7 years, this wine is quickly becoming our corner stone estate red.

Crabtree Picnic Hill Vineyard Shiraz

Crabtree Picnic Hill Vineyard Shiraz

A Shiraz from a year when we had small, concentrated crops, producing a Shiraz a little fuller and richer than usual for Crabtree, with a lovely chocolaty character. An elegant version of Shiraz rather than a super ripe style, try it with the
foods as per the Cabernet above, and also tantalisingly good with Kangaroo wrapped in prosciutto.

Crabtree Windmill Cabernet Sauvignon

Crabtree Windmill Cabernet Sauvignon

This is still a young and attractive wine, and perhaps is still only to be considered a juvenile, as it has a long future ahead of it we think. It shows classic blackcurrants and blackberries, a little spice, and whiff of chocolate. 2003 proved to be a great ripening season, and this wine demonstrates a great balance of fruit, acid, and tannins. Try this wine with slightly pink salt bush lamb from the Clare Valley or good cuts of beef with plenty of caramelised vegetables.

Crabtree Limited Release Shiraz

Crabtree Limited Release Shiraz

From time to time we produce very small quantities of wine that are really to small an amount to send out to the wide world and so we offer them as something a little special to our guests that travel to our Cellar Door. The 2005 Limited Release Shiraz is a very richly fragrant wine with sweet berry fruit and big rich mulberry flavours. This is the kind of red that gets a bit of attention when taken to friends places for dinner or BBQ's.

Crabtree Muscat

Crabtree Muscat

The blend of Muscat of Alexandria comes from 17 vintages from 1984 to 2000 inclusive. Rich and sweet on the front palate, it finishes almost like a dry wine. For devotees, this blend is a good one. For the uninitiated - get initiated! Great as it is, or chilled as an aperitif.
