Our cellar door is very small and intimate, and we like to take out the ‘formality’ of wine tasting and make it a more friendly experience for all concerned. We don’t even have a counter to stand behind like unlike just about every cellar door in Australia. Apart from the fact that we don’t have much room for one anyway, we prefer to simply stand around discussing the wines and anything else that seems appropriate at the time with our visitors. We don’t have any full time cellar door staff, so most of the time you’ll meet either Robert or Jarrod, or both at the same time, and Brendan will also pop in on occasions, and therefore you will always get to meet the winemaker, or the other people who have had a part in making the wines that you will be tasting. If you do come and visit us, make sure you push the doorbell if no-one is in the cellar door, and we’ll soon be there to meet you.

Our view across the valley from the cellar door is exceptional (which is not entirely uncommon in the Clare Valley we must add), but we think it provides a great outlook for guests whilst tasting wines and chatting with the staff. It’s great for taking photos across the vineyards, with the rolling hills in the background, especially so in Autumn when the leaves start to change colour and fall to the ground. When visiting us, ask us about our museum stock if you like older wines, as there is always something delicious lurking in our cellar that we don’t always tell everyone about. Our arms are easily twisted, so if you are interested in buying older wines, maybe bring up the question, and we can let you know what we have available.

Our furthermost vineyards to the West are bordered by the Riesling Trail, which is a convenient 400m ride from the cellar door. If you are visiting us from the Riesling Trail, ask about our special offer regarding wine deliveries for purchases made in the cellar door, as it’s not always easy riding a bike along the trail whilst trying to hold on to the lovely case of Crabtree, and we don’t want to hear of any disasters of that nature; such a waste!
